The postpartum period is a unique time of readjustment for mothers, babies, and the rest of the family. Both mother and child have just completed a massive feat that changes everything.

I believe this special span of time should be intentionally marked by rest, recovery, and nourishment, especially for mothers. After experiencing two of my own postpartums and cooking for dozens of new mom friends, I found foods that are especially warm, filling, and nourishing for moms and their families in this time.

Oatmeal postpartum porridge with raspberries
Porridge with seasonal stewed fruits is an example of a warm, delicious and nourishing meal for a new mom
Roasted chicken with rosemary and vegetables
Rosemary roasted chicken and vegetables in butter is another example of nourishing meals for new mothers and their families
Chicken and rice soup
There’s little more comforting than being served a bowl of warm, nutitious soup, especially postpartum!
